The vineyard was originally planted in 1969 in what was believed to be the perfect spot for vines; a 1600-foot plateau, located below the peaks of a foggy mountain range "where the sun shines through the mist" and in 1974 the winery opened its doors. The winery remained in the Callaway family until 1981 and is now family owned and operated by the Lin family.
